Scope of Activity

• Keeps records on nationals of BiH and Federation BiH missed or captured due to the war activities on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its neighboring countries, i.e. of the former Yugoslav republics;
• Takes direct actions for tracking the persons referred to in previous lines, as well as establishing the final truth on destiny of such persons;
• Takes actions in order to record, track, identify and takeover the mortal remains of the killed persons;
• Collects information on mass and individual graves in the territory of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bosnia and Herzegovina;
• Tracks and marks sites of mass and individual graves;
• Participates in site investigations in collaboration with relevant cantonal court in regard of exhumations, preservation of traces, autopsies, identity verification, collection of evidence for competent bodies and other necessary actions;
• Organizes recovery of terrain;
• Ships mortal remains to sites selected for burial;
• Informs the public, as necessary, on results of searches and established facts;
• Provides competent bodies with available information as necessary;
• Based on the records issues appropriate confirmations to the families of missing persons;
• Cooperates with specialized agencies under UN (UNHCR etc.), Special UN Envoy for Human Rights in the territories of former Yugoslavia, with SFOR, ICRC Work Group for searching missing persons, International War Crime Tribunal in the Hague and other international and national organizations and institutions dealing with issues related to missing, captured and killed persons.
