Curriculum Vitae

Born in 1942 in Đala. Elementary and secondary education completed in Banja Luka. Bachelor degree obtained from the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo in 1969, acquiring diploma of Professor of Yugoslav Literatures and Serbo-Croatian Language.

Used to work with numerous magazines and papers all until 1973 when he took the office of the Head of Information Center of the Municipality Novo Sarajevo. Between 1978 and 1980 he was the editor for issues for Bosnia and Herzegovina under the Publishing House “Savremena administracija”.Since 1980 until 1986 he was the Editor-in-Chief and Deputy Director General in the Graphic Company “Svjetlost” Sarajevo, and between 1986 and 1994 he was the Director in the Publishing Department of the company “Svjetlost” Sarajevo.

Since April 1994 until 2000 he held the office of the Advisor to the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. To the position of Deputy Mayor of Sarajevo elected in 2000. In the period since 1998 until 2000 he was elected Representative to the Assembly of the Canton of Sarajevo and the House of Peoples of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for two terms. In 2001 he was appointed Minister without Portfolio in the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and since 2003 he has been holding the offices of the Vice-President of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Federal Minister of Culture and Sport.
Member of the International PEN Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Scope of Activity

Federal Ministry of Culture and Sport performs administrative, professional and other tasks as laid down by the legislation related to the competencies of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the areas of researching-scientific activity in the field of safeguard and usage of cultural-historical heritage; museums, archives, libraries, publishing, theater, music, fine arts, film and show business activities, activity of organizations and associations of citizens in the field of arts, culture, sport and youth; improvement of sport and physical culture; establishes development strategies in area of culture, sport and youth, as well as other
tasks as laid down by the legislation governing this field.
